After a whole month of leaving these sitting in the corner, I finally found the time to properly go over them... and boy, it was a damn hard time. All the drawings and written pieces had their own charm and beauty, and I was practically tearing my hair out over which pieces to choose! Even after sifting choosing the special prize (which, out of all of them, came easiest), I was left with so many difficult decisions.
BUT! After spending a few days musing over it, I came to a decision. The winners have been picked and showcased below!
Third Place.
It was so damn hard choosing third place. But in the end, I went with "Relax have a pancake"--a drawing of Nyo!Canada and 2P!Canada sitting around and eating pancakes. It was amusing and interesting, and I feel could have a story behind it.! Congratulations, Spaghetti-Skeleton--you didn't get the special prize, but I was glad to give you a place. Since you were contributing to the prizes for third place, I'll be switching that out and giving you 20 points.
Second Place.
"Bismarckhering" had history, food, and adorable chibis all around. Not to mention uniforms--I'm a sucker for uniforms. :< Also featuring interesting, different outfits that we don't always get to see the German brothers in! It was fascinating to read about, you've certainly spiked my interest in this von Bismarck! Congratulations, xGeschwatzX, you've won the second place prize!
Writer's Prize.
This was the most difficult to choose. There were many more writing pieces than I expected, and I was swamped! In the end, I went with the one that impacted me most strongly... "predetermined". vienna-kangaroo writes with a unique and beautiful style, and the words just flowed along as I read. "predetermined" takes wartime and, with it, weaves a powerful, heart-wrenching experience--a story where we get to see the more human side of a nation. Congratulations, vienna-kangaroo, you've won the writing prize!
First Place.
If naueth had wanted a special prize, I'd be in a heap of trouble, because I had two personal favourites--and this is one of them. "Buon Appetito!" weaves soft colours, a striking angle, and a scrumptious-looking dish that makes the drawing a tasteful delight! I loved everything about this piece, from the pose to the choice of colours. Well done, naueth! You've won first place!
And now for the special prize. The whole contest was difficult to pick--and with the people who'd applied for the special prize, I had to look through them all and choose one. Talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place.
BUT. Give it up for...
"Skybreaker" is a large, detailed, and beautiful piece. There has been work put into everything--the mountains, drawn with soft colours; the building, an impressive feat of architecture (although I do know this exists elsewhere, buildings are a damn pain to draw well!); and a peaceful, colour-streaked sky. This drawing certainly does bring a sense of mellowness and contentment. Congratulations, AlterIris! You've won the special prize! I'll be contacting you as soon as I can.
All winners, please contact the person who will be making/giving you your prize! All donors and prizes can be found in this journal: aphetalia-fans.deviantart.com/…
As for everyone else...
I was highly impressed by everything that came into our submissions. All these contest entries were delightful and a pleasure to look through! I'm sorry that I can't give everyone a prize, but hopefully in our next contest, some of you will be able to win a place!
There will be another, possibly a couple more, contests throughout the summer holidays.... I'm certainly considering one that's exclusive to writing. So many of you have great talent, and I don't want to be offering only one prize to a writer with each contest.
With the great quality of work I see from this group, I'm always looking forward to seeing what you guys make and share with each other.
Until next time!

Exchanging Ownership. Who wants the group?
Comment, send me notes, etc. I'll decide based on your gallery, your involvement in other groups, etc. Time for me to move on from Hetalia, and for someone else to take up the reins here.

Donations for Contest, Judges, and Themes Voting!
Here we are! I've decided to make the contest a thing, and I've decided on the deadline to be 15 October 2015! Because I'd like to get this contest rolling by at least 15 August, let's try and get this on the road!
Anyone, a member of this group, is welcome to offer donations for prizes. You can of course still participate if you donate--if you receive a place in which you receive your own donation, we'll switch it out with another prize! (There will hopefully be multiple prizes for each place.)
So please donate!
We'd also like to ask for a few judges to volunteer. We're looking for four or five judges. You may also submit your own writing
